Firm History

Founded in 1956 by Jim L. Dye, the firm was established primarily as a business-oriented collection practice in the Tallahassee area. Mr. Dye developed an expertise in the field of collection and commercial law, as well as in the related areas of bankruptcy, foreclosure, repossession and creditors' rights.

Having retained our collection, commercial and real-estate law practice for more than fifty years, we are most proud of our longtime representation of many area banks, public utilities, health-care practitioners, finance companies, and retail merchants. The Firm is proficient in handling all forms of collection services including automobile financing, credit cards, real estate foreclosures and replevins. Our service area as expanded to include the entire state of Florida. The Dye Law Firm presently employees more than ten full-time personnel, including attorneys, legal assistants, asset tracers, and support personnel who are adept at pursuing all avenues when the principal debtor is no longer a viable entity for collection.

Martindale-Hubbell has awarded the Firm an AV Peer Review Rating giving the Firm its highest level of recommendation and signifying the Firm as of preeminent legal ability. In addition to the Firm’s overall AV Peer Review Rating, Martindale-Hubbell has also awarded both of the Firm’s Members, Jimmy Dye and Donny Dye, individual AV Peer Review Ratings.

For more than fifty years, the Firm has handled collection matters for financial institutions such as SunTrust Bank, N.A., Bank of America, N.A., Barnett Bank of Florida, Nationsbank, N.A. and numerous other statewide and local financial institutions. In March, 2004, the Firm was awarded the “Best Operational Firm” for loan products by Bank of America at a nationwide conference of Bank of America attorneys.
